Practice makes perfect--get it right for Halloween!

A recent bit of advice I’m trying hard to take to heart is:  It doesn’t have to be perfect.  Just do it.  You can apply the mantra to just about anything in life, but especially to building your bar.  Start now…and it will grow with time.  Perfect?  Maybe not.  But a selection you can enjoy over and over again as your knowledge and expertise expand.

Basic Equipment
Cocktail Shaker
.  The lids keep the drink in.  Ice keeps the drink cold…the more ice, the colder, the better the taste--which is usually the desired result.
Mixing Glass.  A transparent pitcher so you can see the drink as you stir it.
Long-Handled Bar Spoon.  Used for measuring and stirring.
Strainer.  Keeps the ice in the shaker when you pour the drink.
Measured Shot Glass.  Used for measuring exact proportions.  Follow the recipe.

Basic Ingredients
Whiskey, Scotch, Bourbon,Brandy, Gin, Rum, Vermouth,Vodka,Tequila
Red Wine, White Wine
Beer
Mixers-club soda, cola, ginger ale, tonic, juices
Garnishes--fresh lemons, limes, oranges, maraschino cherries
Ice-always have plenty of ice on hand

Start with your own preferences, add as needed for guests, and you can’t go wrong.  Here’s looking at you!
